As a child of a small business owner, many of my memories include hiding behind boxes in my father’s warehouse,  helping the bookkeepers sort invoices, or spending weekends minding the front cash. Now, my husband and I (also the product of a family run business) are entrepreneurs. It takes immersing your life and your family into a business to really understand the hustle. That is why at Hip Mommies, we passionately support our small business retailers whenever we can. What is the Story behind your business? Why choose the world of baby?

When I was pregnant, there was nowhere to shop for fashionable maternity clothing + the latest in baby gear and accessories. I’ve always wanted to open a business and with a desire to change careers, moving into the baby world was an obvious choice! My first daughter was 4 months old when I created CRAVINGS.

What makes your shop stand out?

We are a one-stop-shop for everything from belly bump to big kid! We carry everything from maternity clothing to nursery furniture to car seats + strollers. Our service is second to none!

What is the most challenging part about being an entrepreneur or a working mom?

Even answering this question is challenging! I feel like it’s the pressure I put on myself to have “everything under control” and running smoothly. I won’t even use the word balance here as I’m convinced it doesn’t exist.

What motivates you?

I have a natural internal drive. I rarely lack motivation in anything I do. I’m motivated to be the best place of work for my employees and the best shopping experience for my customers.

Who is your supporting cast of characters? (who needs a shout out!)

I have an awesome group of friends who are also entrepreneurs who motivate me daily. My childhood friends are still some of the most important people in my life. My husband and my two girls are my biggest cheerleaders.

Which is your favourite product from the Hip Mommies line up and why?

The ezpz mini mat because it comes with a travel bag making it easy and less mess to go out to a restaurant with little ones. Love that they are dishwasher safe. Plus they have great suction so less food ends up on the floor! Less mess = less clean up 😉
