So I met Lisa when our entire family was an entire mess. We were living in a one bedroom loft, co-sleeping, and my little one was up every 45-90 minutes and not napping either. She was grumpy, I was grumpy and the entire family was exhausted. We had tried everything we could think of, and I read every book (Thanks Toronto Public Library!) but nothing seemed to be helping. We really didn’t know what to do. I was very wary of sleep “training” but I knew we had to try SOMETHING. A google search later I heard about WeeSleep which promised a gentle approach. We then met the lovely and patient Lisa who helped us with major doubts and a very persistant 10 month old. The result was miraculous. and having Lisa there to check in and guide us was really what made the difference in the end. So this WOMAN GAVE ME SLEEP. Crush-worthy? I THINK SO!!!

Name: Lisa Kvapil
Kids Names: Cole and Quinn
Company Name: WeeSleep – Toronto

What is the story behind WeeSleep – Toronto?

Five years ago, Janey Reilly struggled with her own son’s sleep issues. She hired a sleep consultant to help and that decision changed her life! Apart from helping her son get the sleep he needed, Janey saw opportunities to expand on how a sleep consulting business could be run. She had ideas on how clients could be served, packages that could be offered and from this WeeSleep was born. Knowing that she didn’t want to return to the corporate world, Janey chose to stay home, raise her son and follow her entrepreneurial calling. WeeSleep has now grown into 23 consultants across Canada, US and New Zealand. WeeSleep can help tired families across the globe with superior and professional service. WeeSleep is dedicated to healthy sleep for children and their parents. A rested home is a happy home!

How did the idea for the business come about?

After her own struggles with her son’s sleep, Janey knew that providing babies and families with healthy sleep was where she would find the most reward in her professional life. Janey is passionate about infant and toddler sleep and with healthy living. She has dedicated herself to solving babies sleep issues and helping parents in a positive and personal way so that babies can rest, thrive and parents can rejoice! Janey coaches, leads and mentors her WeeSleep team to ensure superior service is given across the globe. The ladies at WeeSleep are not your average consultants!

Why did you join the WeeSleep Dream Team and what motivates you?

Over three years ago, I had my son and faced the same challenges that all first mom’s do; sleep deprivation. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I really struggled and hired Janey to help with my son’s sleep. It changed my life! I had a happier baby and I got the rest I needed to be the best mom that I could be. I became more present with him and could really enjoy all his fun moments without having bags under my eyes hidden with my empty container of concealer. Once my son became an incredible sleeper, I could workout again, cook healthy meals and enjoy some much needed downtime with myself and husband. Before I had my son, I was a successful trader on Bay street, but after I became “mama”, I knew I wanted to stay home. I left the hustle and bustle of Bay Street and have never looked back. After I had my daughter in 2014, I knew I wanted to start helping moms, just like how Janey helped me. Nothing is more rewarding than hearing parents say – ‘you’ve changed my life’. No amount of money on Bay Street is worth more than that.

What is the most challenging part about being an entrepreneur / working mom?

The most challenging part of running a small home business is finding the balance of being a stay-at-home mom and hearing the ding on your cell phone go off. When my children are awake, I am 100% devoted to them. When they are sleeping (and they sleep amazing!), I take these opportunities to grow my business and to help clients. It’s all about finding a balance and learning to become very efficient with your time.

What is your super power?

I think my super power is that I’m real and empathetic. I know exactly how it feels to be overwhelmed and frustrated with a baby who can’t sleep. That feeling of complete helplessness and wishing things were different is where my super power comes to play. I have been in the same shoes as every parent who calls me, and nothing makes me happier than to help these tired moms and dads. I LOVE helping people and it is what ultimately drives me to be successful in this field.

What is something that you think people should know about you?

I am a quirky fun-loving women. I wake up with a smile on my face and try to keep my positive energy spreading to everyone I meet. I say hi to people on the sidewalks, I dance on my street with my kids and I do the silliest things just to see the smiles on their faces. Some people say ‘You’re a little weird’. My answer to that always is: I’m not weird, I’m just not normal ☺. I don’t take life too seriously and I truly believe that life is a precious gift. So why not dance down the street with my kids in my arms and enjoy every moment that I can.

Who is your supporting cast of characters? (who needs a shout out)

My biggest supporter is the love of my life, my husband, Ike. He has supported me from the day I wanted to be a ‘stay-at-home mom’ and has never judged me or swayed any decision that I’ve made. He encouraged me to join Janey’s amazing Dream Team, because he knew how much I would thrive and be successful in helping tired families. He was skeptical about hiring Janey to help with my son’s sleep, but once he went through the WeeSleep program, he was convinced and realized how important it is for the whole family to make healthy sleep a priority for our children. Ike is my #1 fan and without his love and constant support, nothing that I have and will accomplish would be possible. My other shout out is to Janey. She saw something in me and believed in me. She has given me this incredible opportunity to truly make a difference. Without her, I wouldn’t be where I am at today, so thank you to Janey and my love, Ike.
